Platform Overview
OS Music is a web platform designed for hosting, storing, and playing back audio content (music tracks, podcasts, and audiobooks). The project operates on a proprietary architecture, combining the capabilities of server-based cloud storage with a streaming service.
1. Infrastructure and Data Storage
- Deployment Type: Local server. The software source code, database, and media files are hosted on the platform owner's own computing resources.
- Data Localization: All user data and configuration files are isolated within the project's internal server infrastructure, without utilizing third-party cloud services or external network storage.
2. Functional Modules
Upload and Conversion Module
- File Import: The "Upload" function enables the direct transfer of audio and video files to the server.
- Automatic Conversion: Upon video file upload, the server-side component automatically extracts the audio track and converts it into an audio format.
- Storage Optimization: All uploaded content is compressed to a fixed bitrate of 128 kbps, which reduces the load on the server's disk space and ensures stable data transmission under low network speeds.
- File Export: Users can directly download any audio file from the server database to their local device.
Audio Processing and Playback Module
- 18-Band Equalizer: An 18-band graphic equalizer is integrated into the web player's audio component for manual sound adjustment on the user side.
- Lyrics Synchronization: The player supports the simultaneous display of text lyrics during track playback.
Navigation and Automation
- Voice Search: A speech recognition system converts the user's voice input into text-based search queries for the platform's database.
- Streaming (Live): A module is integrated to relay external internet radio streams in real time.
- Automated Selection ("My Vibe"): An algorithm for continuous playback queue generation, operating on the basis of the user's activity history.
3. Access Control and Permissions
Functionality Without Registration:
- Playback of available audio
- Listening to Live radio streams
- Text and voice search
- Downloading media files
Functionality After Registration:
- Access to the file upload module (Upload)
- Saving playback history
- Ability to leave "Like" marks
- Managing the list of own uploads
4. Social Layer and Metrics
- Like Tracking: A public counter records the total number of likes within each track's interface. These metrics are utilized by the "My Vibe" algorithm for subsequent content ranking.
5. Moderation Policy
- Content Verification: Minimal. Automatic copyright violation filters and pre-censorship of uploaded files are absent. Inspection is limited strictly to basic server security requirements.
6. Technical Specifications & Codec Compatibility
The platform ensures comprehensive media flexibility, offering direct support for 22 distinct audio codecs. This matrix encompasses both ubiquitous highly-compatible formats and specialized, lossless archival profiles:
- Universal Formats (Lossy): Full compatibility with MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, and WMA codecs to ensure cross-device playback.
- High-Fidelity Formats (Lossless): Native support for FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, and Ape (Monkey's Audio) codecs for cataloging and storing archival audio in source quality.
- Specialized & Legacy Codecs: Integration of rare and legacy compression profiles to maintain backward compatibility with legacy user archives.
